Incorporated in 2016 as a UK Christian organisation, our charity initially operated within the UK. However, our mission expanded globally. Currently, we have established organisational structures with governance rules, regulations, and policies in line with the UK Charity Commission requirements.
Headquartered in England, United Kingdom, our charity has branches in Burundi. Collaborating with partner Christian organisations, we aim to establish additional branches worldwide, solely dedicated to advancing the Christian faith. Our team includes volunteer prayer ministers, intercessors, and online Christian services, all committed to promoting faith.
Beyond our Mind Firewall Prayer and Worship Centre, we actively address hunger and provide support to individuals and families facing financial hardship. Our outreach extends to hospital and prison rehabilitation centres. The board of trustees, chaired by the Elders, oversees our mission.
During the pandemic, we offered 24-hour telephone counselling for those needing support at any time. We assisted individuals and families facing financial difficulties due to the pandemic. Adhering to social distancing guidelines, we provided mental health support to combat loneliness and isolation.
Vulnerable communities, including disabled individuals and Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic groups, were disproportionately affected. We delivered groceries to those with restricted movement. Our volunteers monitored recovery through telephone services and planned visits. Additionally, our website facilitated interaction and minimised the pandemic's impact.
Street encounters allowed us to conduct pandemic-related services. Challenges included travel costs, telephone expenses, and maintaining our charity van. Adhering to charity commission guidelines,
T-shirts, leaflets, and other publicity efforts ensured our services reached those in need.
The decline of the main traditional church in community engagement can be attributed to several factors. Cultural shifts and postmodern scepticism have impacted church attendance, rendering it less relevant. Disconnection from community needs and personal lives contributes to declining engagement. Additionally, reduced outreach efforts weaken community connections. Online engagement challenges further exacerbate this situation.
Addressing Challenges
Nearly three-quarters of young Britons identify as having no religion, and without intervention, children and young people may be absent from churches within a decade. Addressing these challenges requires fresh approaches, relevant messages, and intentional community engagement. The church must adapt to meet evolving needs.
The True Inspiration
In their early days, our founder accompanied their mother to the main hospital in Bujumbura, Burundi. She used her meagre resources to prepare food for those hospitalised without families to support them. Some patients remained in hospitals due to the inability to pay bills, leading to days without food or water. It is this spirit of care that inspired the creation of Mind Firewall.
